Linkin Park: LOST IN THE ECHO (24Xero Remix)

This is my version of "LOST IN THE ECHO" which I think is one of the best songs from LIVING THINGS. I'm happy that Linkin Park decided to do another remix contest, because it was fun to remix "The Catalyst" last time.

When I found out that it was "LOST IN THE ECHO" that we were going to remix, I immediately started to think in what ways I could change the song. I struggled a bit with the beginning of my remix. After a few variations, I decided to make an intro that started before the actual song began. I wanted my remix to have a lot of heavy beats and electronic sounds. I continued in this direction the entire track. I incorporated some of the original stems in the remix as well.

I put a lot of hours into this remix, and the result became something that I'm very proud of. Listen to my remix of "LOST IN THE ECHO" that you can find below. And if you like what you hear, I'd be happy if you voted for my remix.

Linkin Park: "BURN IT DOWN" Cover Art

I've put together all the 16 pieces into one high resolution picture (2400x2400). And that includes the missing 15th piece (white area).

Before burnitdown.linkinpark.com went down I downloaded the scrambled 15th puzzle picture and put together all the small pieces in the correct order. When that was done I still missed one piece, the black one. So I figured that the opposite side must be similar, and it was. I was now able to fix the missing piece.

You can see the high resolution 2400x2400 picture below.

"Burn It Down" Coming April 16, 2012

Linkin Park is currently shooting a music video for the first single from their upcoming fifth studio album. Mike announced today from the set that the single will be called "Burn It Down" and will be released on April 16.
He also mentioned that we will soon be able to unlock pieces of the song at linkinpark.com.

This has become a tradition for all Linkin Park fans to figure out puzzles and get teased with bits of the song. I remember how exciting it was when you got news about the upcoming Linkin Park album. When the single and album title was released and to find out the release dates. And the exciting feeling when you for the first time heard the newest single. When the track listing was released, I immediately started to think what the songs would sound like. It was always very overwhelming with lots of Linkin Park news. I didn't know what to do with myself. However, it wasn't too long before we got new stuff from Linkin Park because the music video was released, and it was always fun.

You can find the video from Mike below.

Linkin Park's 4th single is "Iridescent"

Linkin Park has officially announced their next single from A Thousand Suns after many speculations and rumors. The fourth single will be "Iridescent" and it's one of my favorite songs from A Thousand Suns.

Another rumor started when a splash page, at linkinpark.com, showed a moon and when you clicked it "Iridescent" started to play, and a picture came up showing something that looked like a Transformers logo. Given that Linkin Park has had songs on the last two Transformers movies, this suggests that they would be on the upcoming movie as well.

And the day after the official news came that "Iridescent" will be a single for upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie. Mike posted on his blog that they're shooting a music video directed by Joe Hahn. However, they will use a shortened version of the song that will fit the movie better. I've listened to the remix but I like the original version better.

Read what Mike had to say about this below.

"A few months ago, I got on the phone with Michael Bay, who wanted to discuss the possibility of our band continuing our run with songs paired with the Transformers films. We (he, his team, and our band) all have enjoyed working together on the past two, and he wanted to discuss the ideas we might have for Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon. In particular, one song came up immediately. Ever since we started playing Iridescent live, the song has been a fan favorite at the show.

For the film, there’s a new, slightly shorter version of the song, which is floating around the internet now. We’ll be shooting a video for the song tomorrow, directed by Joe Hahn."

"Waiting For The End" new Linkin Park single

Linkin Park's second single from A Thousand Suns will be "Waiting For The End", and will be released October 5th on iTunes, and October 29th as a physical single. It will also feature the "Does It Offend You, Yeah?" remix of "The Catalyst".

I think that this song is pretty good, not great. I would personally love to see "Burning In The Skies" as a single some day. It's one of my favorite songs on A Thousand Suns. It will be interesting to see how the music video will look like. I really loved the video for "The Catalyst".

The single cover for "Waiting For The End" is very cool, I love all the art from A Thousand Suns. When I looked through the booklet and saw the art and the photos, I thought that many of the pictures would make a great cover, both for singles and the album.

You can see the single cover of "Waiting For The End" below.

Linkin Park: "The Catalyst" review

I got an e-mail today with a code and a link where I could download Linkin Park's new single "The Catalyst". This is because I pre-ordered A Thousand Suns, I will also get the album the same way when it's released September 14.

Many weeks of waiting are finally over, "The Catalyst" is here! After all the remixes that have been floating around on the Internet, I'm thrilled to have finally heard the original song. And I must say that I really love this song, it's amazing! Even if it's a little different, you can clearly hear it's a Linkin Park song, because they make different and unique song, that's what they are all about. I liked "The Catalyst" immediately, I hope the other song from A Thousand Suns are as good as this one.

I think the song has a great intro, I love the synth playing in the beginning. Mike does a very good job singing and of course Chester, their voices sound really great together. I like how "The Catalyst" builds up and then explodes. I think the best part in the song is when the piano starts playing, and Mike starts to sing "Lift me up, let me go", and then Chester starts to sing, it's very powerful. It gave me goosebumps all over my body, and it actually brought me to tears. I felt that because it really moved me, and because I finally got to hear the song after all those months of waiting. I have finally heard "The Catalyst", I can't wait to hear the rest of the songs on A Thousand Suns!

I would love to give "The Catalyst" a five out of five. However, I haven't heard the other songs from A Thousand Suns, that's why I'm giving it four out of five, that's a very good grade. I mean right now I would give anything new from Linkin Park the best rating!

Overall: "The Catalyst" is an amazing Linkin Park song that is different from what you've heard from them before, it's unique and very good, you can totally hear it's a Linkin Park song. This song represents all the things that make Linkin Park an awesome and unique band. "The Catalyst" is a great song to promote A Thousand Suns with, it's so great that it brought me to tears!

Twitter Pixel Art at Linkin Park.com

Linkin Park.com got a new intro page a few days ago. A message came up and asked if I wanted to connect my Twitter account. After I had done that a text came up that said: "Conversation sets me free". So I wrote that I was looking forward to the new album and send the tweet, and a brief sound plays that could be "The Catalyst" along with the message: "Thank you for helping me. I will arrive soon", with each individual tweet revealing a single pixel of a collective image.

I think the idea that each message sent to twitter became a pixel was a great idea! I was very excited and I was wondering what would happen when all the pixels were in place. My first thought was that the picture would reveal the album art, and that we would hear a preview of "The Catalyst". And today, about two days later, the picture was revealed, and it shows the album art of A Thousand Suns.

I later saw that I had got a direct message from Mike at twitter. In the message, he thanked me for the help and told me to check back to see what happens along with two links. The first link led me to a video where a short clip of "The Catalyst" was played! The second link was just a low res picture of the new LP logo. I liked the short clip of "The Catalyst", it was Mike singing along with Chester in the background, it was different from what I've heard from the stems.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks. "The Catalyst" is almost here!

"The Catalyst" single art

Mike has posted the single art for their new single "The Catalyst", arrives at August 2nd. I really like the new art work style. The pictures that I've seen so far often have an "old TV look" to them, and they are also torn and effected by signal interruption. It will be exciting to see how the album art will be like.

There is a hidden picture in the single art, I enhanced the brightness and the shadows and what looks like a man taking a photo is revealed. I think it's Mike taking a picture into a mirror.

You can see the single art of "The Catalyst" below, before and after.

New Linkin Park album, “A Thousand Suns”, out 14/9 [Update!]

It's finally official, Linkin Park's new album is called "A Thousand Suns", and it will be released on September 14th, 2010. The new single is called "The Catalyst", it will be released on August 2nd. This is exciting news for us Linkin Park fans! We were given the two names a few weeks ago in the LP puzzles, and many had already guessed that it was the name of the single and the new album. I think the album name is awesome, I really hoped that it would be the final name of the album.

This is not all the news we got. Linkin Park will have a contest where we fans will get the opportunity to remix the new single, "The Catalyst", and one lucky winner will have their remix on the "A Thousand Suns" album. I will of course enter the contest, because I love to remix Linkin Park music, it's one of my biggest interests. The contest will begin on July 9th. I don't know if they will include the vocal stems, or just the music. I'm really excited right now, and I think many other Linkin Park fans are too.

You can read the entire post from Mike, below. And as always stay tuned for more exciting news in the coming weeks!

NEW ALBUM, “A THOUSAND SUNS,” OUT SEPTEMBER 14

No puzzles or hidden messages with this one. We’re excited to finally announce that our new album, A THOUSAND SUNS, will be released on September 14th.

The lead single for the album is called “The Catalyst.” It will be released on August 2nd.

Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, we’re teaming up with MySpace for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a contest which gives you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be on our new album. We’ll be giving you some audio from “The Catalyst,” and you get to take it from there; you can remix the parts, write something over them, or mute stuff and write something totally new. We may choose a remix of the song, and put it on the album…or, we may choose an amazing keyboardist, string quartet, guitarist, percussion group, or other musician, and invite them into the studio to play on one of our songs. No matter what instrument you play, you can win. We’re open to anything good. All we ask is that you include any audible portion of any one of our stems in your submission.

Once you submit, the community (that’s you) will vote, and the most popular stuff will rise to the top. Then, my bandmates and I will comb through the submissions, choose one winner, and they will be included on our album, A THOUSAND SUNS. Check out http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark for contest details.

I think I’ve said enough for now. Thanks for your continued support. We’ve got more announcements coming, so keep checking LinkinPark.com for updates.

Linkin Park: "Blackbirds" review

Linkin Park will release "Blackbirds" with their new iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad game "8-bit Rebellion". You will unlock the song when you've finished the game. The song has leaked out on the Internet, as you may already know, probably because the game was released in New Zealand yesterday.

When I first heard "Blackbirds" I was reminded how Linkin Park sounded before "Minutes to Midnight", it sounds more like a song that could have been on "Hybrid Theory" or "Meteora". I think the biggest reason is that we can hear Mike rapping again, I've missed that, and I think many LP fans have also.

The song is not a heavy rock song, it's little more a mellow hip-hop/pop song. It has great beats and an awesome guitar melody, I also like the intro that sounds like Mike rapping in a rehearsal room. The music is just like what you would expect from a Linkin Park song, and that's a good thing, I've always loved their way of creating touching melodies in their songs.

I think Chester does a really good job singing both the verse and the chorus, I like both very much. He's singing it with great feeling that gives me goosebumps. The lyrics are also great through out the entire song.

I think it's cool that you will get the brand new song inside the game as an unlockable item, it's a really unique way of releasing a brand new song. Make sure to download "Linkin Park: 8-bit Rebellion" later today, April 26th, on iTunes in the USA and hopefully everywhere else also.

Overall: "Blackbirds" is an old school Linkin Park song that brings back memories from the "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" time. An awesome song that has great lyrics and music that are typical for a Linkin Park song, and I love that! The fans will be pleased to hear this brand new song from the greatest band in the world Linkin Park.

Dead By Sunrise: "Inside Of Me" next single?

I posted back in December that "Fire" might be the third single from Dead By Sunrise, because a single cover had been released. But according to the AOL Radio Blog, "Inside Of Me" is the next single. Both "Crawl Back In" and "Let Down" were announced the same way, so is it's a reliable source and is probably true.

I like "Inside Of Me", it's a cool song with a lot of energy, I gave it four out of five in my Blog review of "Out Of Ashes". I think it's a great third single, even though I thought "Fire" would have been a great third single also, but "Inside Of Me" is a song that not so many people has heard, so it's more "new" in a way.

Below is the statement from the site, this is not official until Chester or anybody else from Dead By Sunrise says so.

"Inside of Me" is Dead by Sunrise's new single off their October-released "Out of Ashes". Lead singer and Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington sings about self-pity and making a change: "I feel all alone everyday / And just so far away / I know something's got to change / Inside of me". Leaning more towards emo pop than post-grunge, the song is part of the group's debut album full of riff-driven tracks as well as melodic acoustic numbers.

This is a follow-up to "Let Down", a slower cadence and darker, moodier track about getting over past mistakes.

Linkin Park: "Not Alone" review

Linkin Park has released a brand new song called "Not Alone". They are releasing the song through their help organization Music For Relief, other artists are also contributing with new songs. You sign up your e-mail adress and a download link will be sent to you.

Download the songs first and then don't forget to donate!

The song itself isn't one of Linkin Park's best, but it's for a good cause. I don't like the chorus, but I love the verses, it has a great melody. Also this is not Chester's best vocal performance, he can sing much better than this, we know that, he has proven that on all the albums, especially on Minutes to Midnight and Out Of Ashes. I think the music is what makes this song great, a cool intro and an awesome outro that's one minute long, it's very melodic and has that Linkin Park sound to it.

I'm really proud of Linkin Park that they help people in need, they use their position as famous musicians and founded the organization Music For Relief. The organization has raised over $3 million for victims of multiple disasters across four continents and planted over 810,000 trees to help reduce global warming.

One day Linkin Park will receive an award of some sort for what they have done for the people around the world and for the climate. Keep up the good work and I and every Linkin Park fan around the world are proud of you!

Overall: A decent Linkin Park song that is for a good cause. Great music and verses with a great intro and outro that is very melodic and what makes this song great. It's not a typical Linkin Park song but you can hear it's them. Download it and hear for yourself.
