Linkin Park has launched the 11th edition of their fan club LP Underground. They have changed the entire website with many new features that the fans have helped shape thanks to all feedback from last year. The LPU has gotten a brand new members-only online community, an exclusive merchandise package and additional benefits, including LPU members' request for early admission into Linkin Park shows.

And the annual LPU CD will also be available for all the members to hear. You can buy the new LPU11 music on both digital and physical format. The LPU11 CD is filled with unreleased demos from Hybrid Theory to A Thousand Suns. Some of the songs on this CD are early versions of familiar songs, such as the “In The End” demo. Other songs on this CD never made it on a Linkin Park album and remained unfinished and in a raw form. All the songs represent the journey it takes to create an album as a whole.

Last years LPU CD was very good, I gave it five out five "X" (read my review here). I think this years CD is going to be even better. All the tracks look interesting except the "What I've Done" remix, but hopefully it's a different remix from the one we've already heard.

Linkin Park: LPU CD: 9 DEMOS review

01. "A-Six" (Original Long Version 2002) XXXXX [5/5]
Ever since I heard this song, in 2002 on the LPU 2.0 CD, I've wanted to hear more. And thankfully they released it now, seven years later. I really like this song because it's very heavy, have cool scratch sounds and samples. When I listened to it, I wondered how it would have sounded with Chester's screaming vocals on, that would have been awesome!

02. "Faint" (Demo 2002) XXX [3/5]
In this version, they hadn't written that many Chester parts, mainly rap. It's a Hip Hop song with heavy guitars. Mike is rapping with completely different lyrics, and I don't recognize any words from the final song. Chester only has a screaming part in this demo.

03. "Sad" ("By Myself" Demo 1999) XXX [3/5]
This is an instrumental song, you can hear bits of the heavy intro of "By Myself". I recognized the scratching part, I think they've played it live on a show? I can swear I've heard that part before. Good heavy beats with cool scratch sounds.

04. "Fear" ("Leave Out All the Rest" Demo 2006) XXXXX [5/5]
This song really shows what demos are, they didn't have that many lyrics, but tried to find the right melody for the song. I recognized the "Da Na" way of getting a melody from the "Minutes To Midnight" DVD. It was fun to hear Mike sing and rap on this one, he has a great voice, he should sing on more songs in the future. This is one of those things that makes Linkin Park so unique, they have two singers, one that's the lead singer and one that rap and sing.

05. "Figure.09" (Demo 2002) XXXXX [5/5]
Chester sings with completely different lyrics than the original. I think it has a great verse and an awesome chorus, it's heavier in a way, it could have worked really well on the "Meteora" album.

06. "Stick And Move" ("Runaway" Demo 1998) XXX [3/5]
Mark Wakefield sang in the original song, when he was the lead singer of "Xero". The demo is an instrumental, and you can hear similarities with the old song, "Stick N' Move", but since it's a demo of "Runaway", you can't hear any similarities with the original song, but it's good anyway.

07. "Across The Line" (Unreleased Demo 2007) XXXXX [5/5]
A new song finally! First time I heard this was on the "Minutes To Midnight" DVD, only a few seconds from a song called "Japan" was played. Many people wanted to hear the entire song, and now we finally have. Apparently, this song was one of those who barely made the cut. I think this song is very good with great music, a great melody and chorus. "Across The Line" should have been on the "Minutes To Midnight" record, because it's awesome!

08. "Drawing" ("Breaking The Habit" Demo 2002) XXXX [4/5]
The demo has many similarities with the original song, a few different samples, distorted strings and cool beats, which are being altered in a cool way by Mr. Hahn. The song is entirely instrumental and was originally going to be an instrumental track but Mike was convinced by the band to change it. I think it works as an instrumental too, but I prefer the original.

09. "Drum Song" ("Little Things Give You Away" Demo 2006) XXXX [4/5]
Another song when you hear Mike sing instead of Chester, and again I think he does a great job. This song has also many "Da Na" parts, but the parts that are there have many similarities with the original song. A great demo with a few different lyrics. You can also hear the drum part, played by Rob, that gave the song it's working title.

Overall: This is the best LPU CD since "Hybrid Theory EP"! I like it because we got a new song, "Across The Line", we got demos of songs we've heard before, but some of them felt like new ones, one is "Figure.09". This is what we Linkin Park fans want, new songs and other stuff we haven't heard before. I'm already looking forward to the LPU 10 CD, I hope and think they can top this!

Review: LPU CD: 9 DEMOS XXXXX [5/5].

Linkin Park: 8-bit Rebellion [Update!]

Linkin Park video game "8-Bit Rebellion" announced!

Linkin Park is releasing a video game to iPod Touch and iPhone called "8-Bit Rebellion". It was revealed on the LP Underground chat with Mike. He had this to say about the game:

"The game takes place in a world that used to be all "low resolution." 8-bit and lower...
Then an evil corporation arrived, and they've brainwashed everyone to buy higher resolution. They are called PixxelKorp. A small rebellion has begun, to fight against PixxelKorp. You (the player) may be our only hope to combat the evil!
As you get through the game, It's laid out like an RPG style game, but it's got a strong social community aspect. You can talk to all your friends playing, and play together. You solve various missions to fight PixxelKorp. If you finish the whole 1st mission, you get something AWESOME. The iPhone game is going to be coming out in January, we believe. The secret at the end of the game is...another new song. Have you read it? Another NEW SONG!"

The game sounds cool and now that I've just bought a iPod Touch I can also enjoy it. The new song that you unlock sounds awesome. I really think Linkin Park has gone back to like they were before, giving us fans what we want, like new songs and other stuff that LP makes and creates.

Dead By Sunrise new single?

A new single from Dead By Sunrise might be released, a single cover of the song "Fire" was found on a website. I think this is a awesome song, one of the best on "Out Of Ashes" (see my review), this will make a great third single. But I had hoped that they would have taken another song that not so many people already have heard, but we will get a new music video so that's cool. Anyway the single cover is pretty sweet. Check out the cover below!

LPU 9 Press Release

Today the official LPU 9 press release came out and there are information on what the package will include and of course the LPU 9 track list which includes the new Linkin Park song "Across The Line". Below are the official press release copied, so enjoy!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LINKIN PARK TO RELEASE SPECIAL RARITIES ALBUM WITH FAN CLUB PACKAGE

Los Angeles, CA (November 30, 2009) – Two-time Grammy winning rock band LINKIN PARK has announced a December 3rd release date for LPU9: DEMOS, a special rarities album available with a membership to the band's fan club, the Linkin Park Underground. The album and membership package can be purchased together at www.lpunderground.com and at select Best Buy locations and includes a t-shirt, patch, and other exclusive merchandise items.

LPU9: DEMOS features nine unreleased demo versions of some of the band's biggest hits, including "Faint," "Breaking The Habit," and "Leave Out All The Rest." Also included is "Across The Line," a previously unreleased song recorded during the Minutes To Midnight studio sessions. Fans also get "Morning After (acoustic)," from frontman Chester Bennington’s side project, Dead By Sunrise (as an exclusive download).

"Songs change constantly over the course of the creative process, so we thought it’d be cool to share early versions of familiar tracks," says Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda. "The versions in this collection represent important moments in the evolution of each song: different vocals, music variations, and missing parts. They're snapshots of our works-in-progress."

Since its formation in 2001, the LPU’s reach has extended worldwide to form a tight global community. The band has maintained a strong direct bond throughout, and every year they design special merchandise and release music exclusively to LPU members.

Fans first heard the new song, "Across The Line," during online video episodes ("LPTV"). Originally entitled "Japan," fans sought out the song for years, but the band had never released it. In response to fan feedback, the band decided to finish the song and make it available as a highlight of LPU9.

"The LPU is a movement," says guitarist Brad Delson. "Their support of the band is inspiring. So we try to give back to them whenever we can. When we heard that they had been talking about 'Across The Line,' we knew we had to make it available for them."

The LPU has enabled fans worldwide to interact with members of the band, meeting them at exclusive LP Underground meet & greet signings (held at almost every Linkin Park show), or chatting with them online at exclusive chats through the fan club members-only website, www.lpunderground.com. In past years, the band has offered free concert tickets to fan club members, cast them as extras in a music video ("Faint"), and flown them out for rehearsal sessions. The site also provides fans with exclusive news, presales, contests, photos, video, and more. The fan club consistently strives to offer more to its members through website innovations, creative content, and engaging contests and giveaways. For more information, please go to www.lpunderground.com.

It's December soon...! [Update!]

I love the December month, lot of Christmas lights in the city, all the decoration in the stores and the decoration I have at home every year. I get a special warm feeling inside during December, I really feel the Christmas spirit and the atmosphere all around me and inside of me. And you look forward to Christmas eve and all the presents your gonna get, you feel like a child again and that's something positive for me, never forget your inner child! I also like buying presents and give them to someone, I like making other people happy, but never forget your own happiness, to make other people happy you also need to be.

I play alot of video games during December and Christmas, it's tradition I've had since I was a child. I remember playing "Zelda: Ocarina Of Time" on Nintendo 64 and when I got the first PlayStation on Christmas, it was a magical and happy time and something I will always remember. And because of that I still and always will continue playing video games and watch movie during the December month, and all the year around of course, because it makes me happy!

Other things that's happening is the new Linkin Park Underground package that includes the LPU 9.0 CD, that I think is gonna be one of the best. The new site launches December 3rd and I will renew my membership, I'll have to see how long the package will take to arrive or I'll listen to the CD beforehand because I can hardly wait for it!

I will publish a few more video game reviews, one is "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", but currently I'm playing a really cool game: "Batman: Arkham Asylum", I'll see if I'm gonna write a review for it. The good thing about waiting to buy a video games is that they will lower the price if you wait long enough. I also think I'm gonna write a review for the LPU 9.0 CD and one for the "Avatar" movie.

LPU 9.0 [Update!]

I think this years LPU9 CD is gonna be one of the best. We got new information from the yearly LPU newsletter which I downloaded from the Linkin Park Underground website. I liked the previous years LPU newsletter better, when it came printed on a paper in full color, but I guess this is better for the environment. I only wished that the digital .pdf file had better resolution, this one has very bad resolution, they could have released it on .jpeg files instead.

This years newsletter included some Q&A's and a inside look on Chester's Dead By Sunrise project. And a little information on the new Linkin Park Underground 9.0 package, their was a picture of the CD cover and the new LPU logo and some information of what the package would include: LP Underground 9 CD, LPU 9 T-Shrirt, LPU 9 Patch, LPU 9 Guitar Pick and Online Newsletter. This year you can also get the Premier Pass which includes the first ever LPU Vinyl, this pass cost a little more but no price information has been released yet.

This years LPU CD includes nine tracks which are demos from all Linkin Park's previous albums and a new song that no one has heard before. So I'm looking forward to renewing my LPU account this year! We haven't gotten the CD tracklist yet but it will eventually be released in a few weeks. And I wonder if the CD is gonna leak out on the Internet like it did last year? Because the LPU 9.0 package is also released in "Best Buy" stores in the US, so it will probably leak from that release and not the official LPU 9.0 release. Stay tuned for more information closer to the renewing date.
